THE WEDDING
It only made sense for the two to be wed in their favorite city in the world. While the two had traveled all over the world together over the course of the past 13 years, Paris was always the One. On that first trip to Paris, in February 2009, they decided to etch their names onto the bridge at Pont Neuf to celebrate Valentine’s Day (for what they mistakenly thought would be all eternity. The elements had other ideas in mind!). Since then, their love of deep, complex Bordeaux, the French language and old world charm of the “City of Light” had always kept them coming back for more… So, with most of the planning finished, they were set on the perfect date for the big day in the fall of 2020! Alas, the pandemic put a hard stop on their plans, much to the heartbreak of the bride-to-be. And so, wedding dresses were put in storage, wedding and event dates were changed, and ultimately the couple pushed the date of “Jour J” (D-Day) three times!
Eventually, at long last, they finalized June 11, their fourteenth anniversary day, as the DAY. Even if it were to be just the two of them and their two dogs, nothing would stop them from going forward with the wedding of their dreams that they had had to postpone for so long. In the end, they celebrated with 70 of their closest friends and family, including their two petits chiens, in a wedding that fulfilled all their dreams and wishes. The weather in the week leading up to the wedding was rainy, humid and dreary. But on the big day, the clouds parted, the sun rose and the sunshine poured upon Kyulee, Brandon and the wedding party in a glorious wave of ethereal French beauty with the gardens of the chateau as their ceremony backdrop. The Vin D’Honneur (as the French put it), took place in front of the vast lawns with ample seating and a custom mixologist for the perfect relaxed atmosphere. The formal dinner took place inside the chateau’s several salons. It was pure magic, as the wedding party danced the night away in the quaint Chateau that was once the childhood home of the famed French poet Cyrano de Bergerac. Adding to the magic of the venue was the dedicated library salon, original 18th century floors, elaborate moldings, sweeping gardens, suites with toile wall coverings, and various salons in wondrous colors which inspired the wedding palate of shades of pinks, burgundy, and a hint of apricot.
The bride carried a petite bouquet of stephanotis jasmine vines and delicate greenery to contrast the bountiful blooms of the wedding decorations and the colorful bridesmaids’ bouquets. For the first look, she wore the original dress that she had decided on in 2019, a stunning Carolina Herrera piece. The sheer opera length gloves were vintage and resized by a dear couturier she met in New York City. The bride’s veil and bow were handmade by the bride’s mother, bringing the bride’s vision to life.
To provide the most intimate experience, the bride and groom planned an entire weekend before the finale of the wedding with friends and family to experience their favorite city through their lens. To start off the weekend, they hired a private cruise to take in the picturesque views on the Seine with their favorite French champagne, an homage to one of their first dates. The night before the wedding was a rehearsal dinner on the Champs Elysées with views of the Arc de Triomphe.
